Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho Off to O-HI-O

This summer J.C., Mason and I went to Ohio, J.C.'s hometown, for 11 days. I finally got to meet J.C.'s daughter, Madi P! She's a cutie, just like her daddy. I can totally see tons of J.C. and Mason in her. We lucked out in the weather department. It is usually really hot this time of year with crazy humidity. Words like "steamy" are used in their weather reports. (We, meaning good ol' Salinas, have no idea what "steamy" feels like).

While in Ohio we went miniature golfing, had a few cookouts, shucked corn, watched J.C.'s brother, Jake, play soccer, fished, checked out some cool parks, shopped, went to a Reds game, played corn hole and much, much more. But most importantly, we were able to be apart of his sister, Danielle's, wedding. She was such a beautiful bride. And a crafty one as well. She made all of her own party favors, folded all her own napkins, and made all the place cards...just to name a few. Ever thing was picture perfect! I just might need to hire her when the time comes. :)

J.C.'s family was extremely welcoming and loving. They made me feel like part of the fam! His dad, Craig, gives the best hugs. Marlene, his mom, is the cutest thing ever. His step mom, Carol, is very fun loving and easy going. Madi was a very loving, welcoming, beautiful little girl. Grandma Roddy had the best stories to tell and tons of shells to show off. Grandma MeMe is super sweet and very fashionable. His brother, Jake, had some amazing dance moves. Danielle, the bride, is amazing. She's the nicest, sweetest, most welcoming person ever. We didn't get to spend much time with J.C.'s other sister, Teal, because she was enjoying the sun in Myrtle Beach. But I can tell she's just as sweet. John, the now brother- in-law, is awesome. Super relaxed, easy going and funny! Danielle lucked out.

Even though 11 days seemed like a long time to be away from my friends, family and puppy, it went by all too fast. I look forward to seeing everyone again. Maybe next time in good ol' Cali!

Crafts

The finished product! I finally finished an apron I was making for my friend, Tasha. It was suppose to be a baby shower gift...needless to say...the baby, Nylah, is now almost 7 months old. Even though it seemed to take forever it was worth it. Enjoy!

P.S. Thanks for modeling the apron, Ang!

Soon-to-be an Auntie!!!

That's me! If we want to get all technical, it would probably be more like a cousin. However, this side of the fam...well, basically calls each other whatever they want. And I'll be more like an aunt anyway. My beautiful cousin, Rebecca, is having her first baby! She's due in March and will shortly find out what she is having. I can't wait. Here comes another baby quilt...better get started. Stay tuned for pics of the baby bump.

Our Newest Addition

Sorry, it's not a baby! It's a puppy! We welcomed Paislee Shaye Von Vuitton into our family and she's been a blast. At almost 6 months old she weights a whooping 3 1/2 pounds and has no idea she's small. She can literally "run with the big dogs"! And even though I carry her around in a "purse" I've promised my friend, Ang, I wouldn't become "one of them"!
Yes, I know Rodeo is in July and it's already September. I've had the best intentions to get this family blog started but it hasn't been able to happen until now...So, I'm going to back track a little bit and share some pics.
